Water Fairs and Celebrations ****Help Save Over 100 Million Gallons of Water a Year A Taste of Kearns - Once more Kearns is hosting "A Taste of Kearns" Poetry Slam at Barns and Nobes sponsored by Salt Lake City Public Utilities - Join us for a night of wonderfully unique poetry about Water at the Trolley Sqare, in Misty River. Free Landscape Class Photography in the Garden Session 1- Develop your skills as a photographer with Joey and Jarum Foote, local professional photographers. Learn how to use proper lighting (natural light when possible), framing, and other photography techniques to enhance the quality of your photographs. Open to all levels of experience and any type of camera. Bring your camera. Garden Fair at Sego Lily Gardens - Garden Fair, Joy in the Garden- teaching two classes with plant give-a-ways Storytime at the Garden - Enjoy a day of stories told in the Conservation Garden in Washington County H2O at Brewvies - Live Music, art, film and a specialy screening of Billy X. Curmano's documentary, "Swimming in the River." Brolly Arts Water Walk to Raise Awarness - Join us to walk to raise awareness of difficulties in under developed countries to obtain daily water. Free Master Gardener landscape Class - This series will teach you everything you need to know about creating beautiful landscapes and how to help them survive in Utah's sometimes-difficult climate.
Session 2: Saving water in your yard doesn't have to be complicated. Find out how to save water in your landscape in simple yet effective ways. Open House Water Treatment Plant - Open House at the Little Cottonwood Water Treatment Plant (Culinary Water Treatment) Free Film Screening "Poison Water" - Free Film Screening: "Poison Water". Film and discussion Washington County 4th Grade Water Fair - Water infomation is given to all of the 4th graders within the county. Washington County Water Conservancy District - Quail Creek Water Treatment Plant open for public tours (Culinary Water Treatment). Mothers Day Garden Fair/ Gran Opening at the Conservation Garden Park at Jordan Valley This will be a Garden Fair combined withthe official opening of the Garden Expansion Project which adds 2 acres and 24 educational interactive exhibits to the Garden Free Landscape Class Waterwise by Design Series "Starting Out" - Successful waterwise landscapes begin on paper. Developing a plan will help ensure that your garden will achieve maximum beauty with minimum water. This class is held during Garden Fairs, so reserve your seat early.

Learn how to use them in landscape design as Susan Meyer presents a new book from Utah State University. This book will be available for purchase.

Water Reclamation Facility Tours - Water Reclamation Facility Tours, Wetlands Tours and Open House Water Treatment Facility Tours - Parleys and Big Cottonwood Facilities Tours Participants Conservation ToolbagAt each event the Intermountain Section AWWA will have a Water Week booth stocked with all the information shown above. Also, we will be handing out Conservation Toolbags which participants will be able to check their in-home conservation practices. Through checking for leaks, monitoring their showers and cutting down on the amount of water for each flush of the toilet we estimate that the participants will save over 100 Leak Detection Dye TabletsNontoxic blue dye indicates within minutes if a simple repair can help save water. Just drop one tablet into the toilet tank. Instructions printed on attached card.
Shower Flow Meter BagHelps determine the flow or showerheads and faucets. Showers or faucets that flow at 2.5 gallons per minute are inefficient and can be easily replaced. A low flow shower head can reduce water usage by as much as 27.5 gallons for that same shower. Instruction printed on the bag.

Water Conservation – A Water Conservation Eco Kit for attendees to save water in their home. The kit will contain a package of leak detection dye tablets with instructions, a toilet displacement tank bank, a shower flow rate bag, the AWWA pamphlet “A Consumer’s Guide to Water Conservation: The Inside Story” and a report card to r Backflow Prevention - Lets consumers know how to prevent backflow in their hoses and keep their families safe from dangerous fertilizers and weed killers.
